Strong support is growing from retailers for the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize 2014, the winners of which will be announced on 19th June at Jerwood Space, London.
WHSmith Travel is including the eight winning books in its Recommends promotion, meaning that for six weeks from mid-July, prominent space will be given to the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize winners in a mix of WHSmith Travel stores including most airport and major rail station stores over the busy summer holiday period.
Matt Bates of WHSmith Travel comments:
“We’re delighted to be supporting the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize during one of our busiest periods which will enable our large number of book customers to discover some great British writing to enjoy this summer.”
Other support has been pledged by:
- Kobo will host a banner on its UK site as well as supporting with online editorial and in the weekly newsletter.
- Foyles will once again support the prize with in-store support in all seven of its branches at Charing Cross Road, St Pancras International, London Waterloo Station, Royal Festival Hall, Westfield London, Westfield Stratford City and in Bristol, alongside in-depth online support. In addition, Foyles will host a Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize Salon in the new Charing Cross Road store in September.
The prize team is currently in conversation with other retailers about their support of the prize.
For the first time this year, the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize will offer £5,000 to each of the eight winning authors, making this one of the largest literary prize funds open solely to British fiction writers.
