Carys Davies published in Ploughshares’ 45th anniversary issue

CarysDavies2015 Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize winner, Carys Davies, has been published in Ploughshares Summer 2016 issue.

The story “The Testimonie of Alyss Tee” is part of a special 45th anniversary all-prose issue, guest edited by novelist Claire Messud and literary critic James Wood. Ploughshares are best known for their award-winning literary magazine, which is published three times a year with two issues guest-edited by a prominent author, they also publish Ploughshares Solos, digital-first long stories and essays, and a lively literary blog. Since 1989, they have been based at Emerson College in downtown Boston.

The Summer 2016 issue includes new work from Viet Thanh Nguyen, winner of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize; Lydia Davis, acclaimed translator and author; and more. In their introduction, Messud and Wood write: “No matter its form, we sought to include fiction that is vivid, vital and urgent.”

Carys is currently on a 2016/2017 Cullman Fellowship at the New York Public Library. She is the author of two collections of short stories, Some New Ambush (Salt Publishing, 2007) and The Redemption of Galen Pike (Salt Publishing, 2014), which won the 2015 Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize and the 2015 Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award. She is also the recipient of the Royal Society of Literature’s VS Pritchett Prize and the Society of Authors’ Olive Cook Short Story Award.
